RAVAGESOFT / DEVELOPMENT & SUPPORT
Background services & daemons
Software that works behind the scenes.
A process running in the background still needs an owner, a visible status and a safe response to failure. Starting a scheduled task is only one part of making it dependable.
- Services & daemons
- Scheduled processing
- Monitoring & recovery
A SCOPE THAT FITS
What we can work on.
Ravagesoft develops services and daemons for continuous or scheduled work, and can improve existing processing jobs. The design covers deployment, permissions, restart behaviour and the information needed to diagnose a problem.
Scheduled processing
Imports, exports, report preparation and file processing, with schedules, dependencies and completion conditions defined.
Continuous services
Watch for incoming work or device events and process them through a controlled queue or service.
Recovery and observability
Status reporting, useful logs and bounded retry behaviour so failures can be investigated without blindly repeating work.
BEFORE WE BUILD
Decisions to make early.
- What starts the work, and what should happen if the previous run is still active?
- Can a task be retried safely, and how are partial completion or duplicate inputs detected?
- Where will the process run, who maintains it and how will a failure be noticed?
A PRACTICAL FIRST STEP
Start with the work.
Map the input, the expected result and the failure cases for one job. For an existing service, review its configuration and operational history first. A scoped implementation can then establish correct processing and recovery before more tasks are added.
